Why ServeNext?

National service is an American tradition and an issue that transcends party lines. It gives citizens the opportunity to help each other and to address our country’s most pressing challenges. It is essential for the health of our communities and our democracy.

However, for the last four consecutive years the budget for our nation’s leading service programs have been cut, including AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and Learn & Serve America. Despite vast public support and proven results, these cost-effective programs that enable Americans to service community and country have not had the necessary public will and political leadership.

ServeNext Action is launching an unprecedented campaign to change this and to reinvigorate our nation’s commitment to national service by tapping into the one million service alumni and the hundreds of millions of people who believe in the importance of this issue. To accomplish this, this campaign is empowering and mobilizing citizens in all 50 states to call upon the next Congress and President to expand opportunities for citizens to serve community and country.

Service is an American value that helps our country focus attention on common challenges. This is not about expanding government, but about expanding the capacity of citizens to get involved in public life and solve problems. National service is among our country’s most important issues and needs a powerful voice to raise public will and political leadership.

ServeNext Action is dedicated to reinvigorating our nation’s commitment to national service, active citizenship, and volunteerism. A national commitment to service will strengthen our democracy, improve our communities, and solve our toughest social challenges.

ServeNext Action is committed to voluntary community and national service and advocates for the expansion of those opportunities. We do not support mandatory service requirements.

ServeNext Action is non-partisan and is organized and operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.
