Mr. Bruce Slater, a restoration contractor, Navy vet and challenger in Pennsylvania’s 16th congressional district, just signed the ServeNext Pledge.  By doing so, he commits to expanding AmeriCorps from 75,000 to 250,000 members.

Slater enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation, where he served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the WestPac Fleet from 1976-1979.  Performing assigned maintenance on emergency diesel generators and fire pumps, Slater’s missions took him to the Philippine Islands, Taiwan and Japan.  Slater says repeatedly on his website that he was proud to serve.

Thanks for your service to our country, Mr. Slater, and for your support of both military and civilian service!
